(Inspector Ramesh Babu Enters Madan Babu's residence)

Ramesh : May I come in . . . .

Meena : Oh ! Ramesh Babu, please come in and be seated.

Ramesh : Mrs. Mohanty, I've got some sad news.

Meena : What happened ? Did something happen to . . . . .

Ramesh : No, No, not that. Last night the Cashier Managovinda Babu died in a car
accident.

Meena : What ? Managovinda babu is dead ?

Ramesh : Where was your husband last night ?

Meena : Kalpana Flat

Ramesh : Why ?

Meena : After coming back from jail he went to meet on of his lawyer friends . . . . . .

Ramesh : Can you tell me at what time he went out and at what time he returned ?

Meena : Evening he went out and came back around 12 o' clock (midnight).

Ramesh : Oh, I see.

Meena : Are you involving him in this ?

Ramesh : I haven't made any mistake. So, I am coming.

Meena : Ramesh Babu came. He told me about the accident of Managovinda Babu and
said that you are involved in this . . . . .

Madan : Oh, I think . . . .

Meena : What are you thinking ?

Madan : I don't think it was Managovinda.
(Doctor Narottam Das, Madan Babu's childhood friend makes an entry)

Meena : Oh, Narottam Babu, Namaskar ! Please do come in.

Madan : Sit down Narottam Babu.

Naro : Please don't mind Madan, if you wanted the money desperately then why didn't you
tell me.

Madan : Look, if attitude has become like this, then you can well realise that a thief never
extends his hand.

Noro : I think all this happened because of the fraudulent ways of Managovinda.

Madan : Why should we blame some one who is no more ?

Noro : What, Cashier Managovinda Babu is dead ?

Meena : Yes, we got the news that he died in a car accident . . . . .

Naro : Oh ! My God !

Madan : Tell me how you will help me in this matter ?

Naro : Madan, why are you taking all these matters in a different way ?

Madan : I know you are a genuine well-wisher of mine. Then, please be informed that if a
person who could steal such a lot of money, it is not unlikely that he will pass on
the blame to someone else.

Noro : O.K., I am coming. I will have to go to the Club now.

Madan : Meena, give me by briefcase. Let me go to the police station.

Meena : How will you go on an empty stomach ?

Madan : No, I am not feeling hungry now, let me go and come back.
