Samayara Chaka : The famous Oriya Drama by Mohapatra Rajendra Prasad
SAMAYARA CHAKA
(Wheel of Time)

SCENE-VII >>

(Madan Babu's residence. Meena is crying. Judge Birendra enters )

Birendra : Meenu . . . . . .  Meenu . . . . .

Meena : I didn't expect this type of judgement from you. You are such a highly reputed
               Judge, and you judged him like this . . . . ..

Birendra : Meenu darling, I am a Judge. Don't unnecessarily misunderstand me. I only
                  gave this judgement.

Meena : I can recall . . . . At that time you loved me so much. I too . . . . Despite many social
objections I still can remember . . . And the reward of that love . . . . this is, today
               the . . . .

Birendra : Meenu, I am absolutely helpless; the law too totally went against Madan. What
else could  I have done ?

Meena : Lies, lies, these are nothing but lies.

Birendra : You need rest . . .  You go take rest. I am coming . . .

Naro : Will your impatience serve any purpose ? Did anybody else come ?

Meena : Birendra Babu.

Naro : Couldn't you turn him out ?

Meena : Probably you are getting more excited that me.

Naro : No, what I was saying is . . . He being a Judge, he could have done anything.

Meena : Probably you are getting more excited than me.

Naro : No, what I was saying is . . . He being a Judge, he could have done anything.

Meena : Today I have phoned my brother-in-law to come . . . Could you kindly help me ?

Naro : Yes, please tell me what . . . . . .

Meena : Could you please arrange some petty job for me ?

Naro : Leave that thought of a job. Me being there . . . Yes, if your brother-in-law wasn't
disturbed it would have been better. I have two houses, of my own, lying vacant. At
           least with me. . . .

Meena : Look, Narottam Babu, you are going beyond your limits. You are talking
nonsense. Psychologically I am very upset. You may come.

Naro : I had come to help you out as a friend, but you have misunderstood . . . O.K. I am
           coming. . . . ..

(Doctor Narottam makes an exit, and suddenly Ramesh Babu stages an entry)

Ramesh : Did Naro Babu come after Birendra Babu . . . . . . What was he telling Mrs.
                 Mohanty ?

Meena : You haven't gone home as yet ? Have you come straight from the Court ?

Ramesh : To be very frank, for your own good I am telling you . . . What do they expect
from you ?  You please don't misunderstood me Madam. I think there is some
                 conspiracy in this  matter.

Meena : After my husband's imprisonment, a seemingly honest Police Inspector is saying:
               "Is there any conspiracy ?"

Ramesh : I know how the Cashier died.

Meena : How ?

Ramesh : He was murdered. The criminal hasn't been caught as yet. But at the same time
your husband doesn't look innocent, at all, in this matter.

Meena : Inspector . . . . . ..

Ramesh : You need rest. I am coming. Good night ! If necessary, then we shall speak on
                 phone.
