SYNOPSIS >>

The one-act play SAMAYARA CHAKA (Wheel of Time) written by Mohapatra Rajendra Prasad holds mirror to the Oriya society. The story of the play goes like this :

The Executive Engineer Madan Mohan Mohanty is the main character of the play. He is a duty-bound and honest engineer. Some evil characters like the Contractor Debababu, Doctor Narottam Das, Judge Birendra and Cashier Managovinda hatch conspiracy against the engineer, Mr. Mohanty in order to tarnish his clean image before the public. The engineer is implicated in a false case in connection with pilferage of Government money to the tune of Rs. five lakh and fifty thousand. The engineer is also indicted in a false accident case. As a result he is awarded with seven years rigorous imprisonment by the court of law. The engineer is simply made a scape-goat as he fails to understand the evil designs of the people who always surround him. But truth prevails in the long run. The engineer's wife Mina Devi, Police Officer Ramesh and C.I.D Inspector Durga Madhab spend sleepless nights to nail the evil designs of the conspirators. Due to their clever handling of the situation and use of wit, the contractor Debababu and Judge Birendra are booked under law. At last engineer Mr. Mohanty heaves a sigh of relief as he is proved innocent and his clean image is restored again. Basing on this theme the play is written.
